The coastal road (SS163) is stunning but narrow and slow in season — a ferry between towns is often faster and less stressful than driving or the bus.
Very safe; the real hazard is the road itself in peak season traffic, not crime.
Pacing & budget
Pacing: 3–4 days lets you base in one town and ferry/day-trip to the others, rather than repacking every night.
Budget: One of Italy's most expensive regions, especially Positano in peak season — Ravello or Praiano offer similar views at lower cost.
